While there has been very little to look forward to in Kinsale over the past few months, a little ray of sunshine is now peeking through with the news that the Kinsale Lions Club Blue and Amber event is due to take place this Saturday morning to coincide with the Darkness into Light walk in support of Pieta House.
Blue and Amber 21 aims to bring solidarity, hope and gratitude, by supporting mental health agencies and showing appreciation for our wonderful frontline workers and emergency personnel. The fundraiser will have three benefactors; Kinsale Youth Support Services, Kinsale Lions Club and Pieta House. Donations can be made by going to www.kinsalelionsclub.org where the route map is also available.
A multi-agency parade, including frontline workers, Gardaí, RNLI, Civil Defence, Coastguard, along with members of the farming community, will commence just before sunrise on May 8th from the Fire Station on the New Road. Always an emotional event, bringing the community together while raising much needed funds for these worthwhile charities, this year promises to surpass all others.
Candles, torches and messages of hope will line the route and an extra special addition to this years event is the wonderful gesture by Maeve Edwards and her children, Ruby and Jimmy, of Kinsale Rocks, who have hand painted 1000 rocks https://www.facebook.com/pg/Kinsale-Rocks-460563661353326/photos/ To get an idea of how special the event is check out this amazing drone footage by Ruairi Devlin from 2020 https://www.facebook.com/KYSS.Kinsale/videos/267444740971083/
These events really show what a fantastic community we live in, well done to all the organisers and participants.
Please remember to abide by public health guidelines along the route.
